What we collect, why, who sees it, and your rights under POPIA.

This notice explains how Brawne Protect (Pty) Ltd (“we”) collects, uses and protects your personal information, as the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) requires. It covers this website and the services we provide.
Who is responsible
Brawne Protect (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2019/433770/07, an authorised financial services provider (FSP 51198), is the responsible party. Our Information Officer is Marc Potgieter, reachable at info@brawne.co.za.
What we collect
On this website: if you use the call-back form, your name, mobile number, the topic you are interested in and your preferred time to call. Like most sites, our systems may also record technical details such as your browser type and the pages you visit.
When you become a customer: we collect more, in separate documents, to give you advice and cover and to meet the law. This can include your identity number, contact details, income and expense details, health information where a product needs it, bank details for premiums, and beneficiary details. We ask only for what we need, and we ask you directly where we can.
Why we use it
- To phone you back and answer your request (with your consent).
- To give you advice, arrange cover and service your policies (to carry out a contract with you).
- To meet the law, including the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (identification and record keeping) and tax law.
- To handle complaints and to improve our service.
- To tell you about our products, only if you agree or the law allows. You can say no at any time.
Who we share it with
- Insurers and product providers, to quote for and issue cover and process claims.
- Service providers who help us run the business and keep information under written duties of confidentiality. These include our website form provider (Formspree, based in the United States), our email provider (Microsoft) and our web host.
- Regulators, auditors, the compliance officer and professional advisers.
- Anyone else only where the law requires it, or you agree.
Sending information outside South Africa. Some providers store information in other countries. We only use providers that give protection equal to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
- Call-back requests that do not lead to a customer relationship: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer records: at least five years after the relationship ends, as financial services and anti-money-laundering law require. We delete or anonymise them after that.
- Complaint records: at least five years.
How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures: access limited to people who need it, secure systems and email, encryption in transit, and staff training. If your information is ever compromised in a way that could harm you, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Your rights
You may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, to give you a copy, to correct it, or to delete or restrict it. You may object to our use of it, withdraw your consent, and opt out of direct marketing at any time. Email info@brawne.co.za. We may need to confirm who you are first.

This site is not meant for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics at present. Our hosting provider may use technical cookies or similar tools that are strictly necessary for security and for the site to load.

We may update this notice. The version date is shown at the top. For significant changes we will say so on this site.
