How to ask for a record
- Complete the request form prescribed under PAIA (Form 2) and send it to the Information Officer by email. The form is available from the Information Regulator’s website, www.inforegulator.org.za.
- Describe the record clearly, say which right you want to protect, and give proof of who you are. If you ask for someone else’s record, include their permission.
- We will reply within 30 days, as PAIA requires, and tell you if we need more time or a fee.
PAIA allows a request fee and a fee for copies. We will tell you the amount before we process your request. We may refuse a request on the grounds the Act allows, for example to protect another person’s privacy or confidential information. If we refuse, we will give our reasons and explain how you can complain to the Information Regulator or go to court.
Our PAIA manual
Our PAIA manual describes the categories of records we hold and how to access them. It is also available on request from the Information Officer.
